Polish light regimental 3-pounder guns started to be used by the army at the time of King Jan Kazimierz. The calibre of the gun was about 75 mm, it fired full balls weighing 1.5 kg, its range was up to 600 m or, if it fired canister shots, over 200-300 m. Due to its weight, which was over 280 kg, it had to be transported by a pair of horses. Often cartridges were used in the guns (in one bag loaded to the barrel there was gun powder and a ball or a canister shot), which increased the rate of fire to 3 shots within 2 minutes. These guns were not suitable for destroying fortifications but they killed the enemy effectively.
