- Directions and description

The City Park is the pride of Zamość. It was renovated and financed from EU funds under the program of “ Innovative Economy” – “Zamość, the city of UNESCO”, Historical Monument of Poland the tourist product of the Polish economy”. It is a continuation of a very modern idea, realized during the beginning of the Second Polish Republic. The City Park perpetuates because of an ornamental and recreational greenery - the most important elements of the fortress buildings . Today form of Bastion IV is not only ordered a relic of blown up bastion but twentieth-century architectural creation on the model of the former defensive building.

As a souvenir of the demi-lone of the bastion . The park was located in a range of at least 3 fortress cannons : Bastion IV , demi-lone of this Bastion and ravelin situated in front of the curtain between Bastion V and VI . The creator of the park was also an author of more than 300 projects and realizations of gardens and parks: the park near the racing track in Służewiec or park in Agrikola . The park in Zamość which was created by Kronenberg took 5th place in 2008 in the ranking of the most beautiful parks of Europe . A combination of modernist garden with fortress elements –modern , harmonious , picturesque – is a inspiration for overall, recently started recovery process of landscape of the fortified fortress of Zamość . It was the first example of a creative approach to the devastated fortress landscape in independent Poland , which was developing the values and not blurred military identity of the place .Within the project : “Zamość – the city of UNESCO , a monument of the history of the Republic of Poland as a tourist product of the Polish economy”, the park was subjected to a thorough renewal while maintaining the highest standards of conservation protection . They introduced a new surface, referring to the materials used in the era of the interwar modernism. The pond was renovated by building two bridges, which allows performing lovely walks by the water. A new entrance to the park was opened from the Piłsudski Street ,which reconnects the city park in the circular tour route around the Zamość fortress .They returned to the Kronenberg’s idea of organizing the north of the park, as a small natural amphitheater . The work was completed in 2012 .
