The Lublin New Gate was erected in 1822-1824 in the spot of the corridor - called postern and built in the times
The indicative visualization of the lunette between bastions V and VII with its surroundings. It was developed by K. Chajdys
of the Duchy of Warsaw, and intersecting the curtain between bastions V and VI . The Gate was probably designed by lieutenant Jan Paweł Lelewel. A new access to the fortress from the north was led by two drawbridges, along the edge of the great, ground building - the ravelin, rebuilt in the 30sof the 19th c. – the times of the Duchy of Warsaw. The structure with the function of ravelin received the triangular form, so-called lunette – an external fortress work with an open rear portion. An ambitious, somewhat idealistic project by Jean-Baptist Mallet Malletski, in the middle of the ground building there supposed to stand a huge, brick redoubt – mid-retrenchment, which, however, was never finished, only prepared to a makeshift extension for supplying the fortress to combat readiness. In 1866, as a result of the decision of the Tsar to liquidate Zamość, the fortifications were blown up. The Lublin tract was directly led by Bastion V and ravelin and the Gate were no longer needed. The walled Gate, cut off from the demolished curtains, for years became a military warehouse food. A comprehensive restoration of Zamość, conducted on the basis of the resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 139 of 1974 started by drafting the development plan of the Old City. It was decided that the work would include the Gates: Lublin Old and New ones, Old and New Lviv Gates, Bastion VII and the curtains of the northern and north-western sections. Lublin New Gate was restored, opened and complemented by a replica of the bridge fortress, leading to partially rebuilt ravelin-lunette. There an amphitheater was created and designed by Dr. engineer of architechture Maciej Pawlicki. The amphitheater adds value to the landscape and cultural life of Zamość. The project of 2007 was completed in 2012, but the idea of an amphitheater was developed, turning it towards the city, so that greater than previously number of spectators could admire actors - against the background of an unforgettable, wonderful panorama of the Renaissance city, as a result of the project “Zamość, the city of UNESCO”, Historical Monument of Poland, the tourist product of the Polish economy”. But two years earlier, the curtains were supplemented as well as restoration works of Lublin New Gate , as a result of the project: ,,The maintenance, renovation, adaptation for cultural purposes of the fortifications of the Old City in Zamość”. Currently, restored lunette (called Teatralna), selected mid-retrenchment, today the scene and Lublin New Gate in the background is one of the most effective spectacle space in Poland.
