about the Brotherhood

Every year we re-enact battles connected with Zamość. One of them is an unsuccessful siege of Zamość Fortress by Swedish troops in 1656. Many members of other brotherhoods of knights from Poland and Ukraine come to celebrate this historical event. During the re-enactment visitors and residents can watch fights of Polish and Swedish troops in front of fortress walls and the camp life of former times.

The aim of our brotherhood is to promote the history of the 17th century and Zamość, a 17th century fortress, abounding in beautiful architecture and attracting many visitors every year. There are both men and women in Zamojskie Bractwo Rycerskie; what they share is their interest in the culture and life of the 17th century. We train members of our two units in the drill and in the use of cold steel and black powder weapons.
