Giwer (kiwer) is a kind of cap in the form of a truncated narrowing cone and a peak in front or in front and back in older versions. Made from black felt, it was introduced to Polish army after 1775 and was worn by Polish soldiers from the end of the 18th and in the 19th centuries. This type of cap was also used by postal units of National Cavalry.
