which does not mean that its today’s form is the final one. In the near future we will supplement firing positions both in the face of the bastion and in its lowered flanks by reconstructing the gun banks, defensive devices made from huge wicker baskets filled with mud and, finally, artillery. Interestingly enough, placing model guns from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries side by side will be fully justified since Bastion III, as the only bastion in the fortress, did not change its form for almost 150 years. In the future curtain wall III-IV will also be fully reconstructed, at least up to Królowej Jadwigi Street. In the middle of the curtain wall Haxo casemate, one of the most modern defensive element of the fortress, is going to be marked and the water reservoir at the foot of the bastion will be extended to remind visitors that Bastion III was the most “watery” bastion in Zamość, as access to it was defended by a wet moat.
