Blue signs. The trail has led you to the square at the end of the counterguard of Bastion III. In front of you there is a panoramic board which presents the history of Bastion III including the changes of the “water front” of the fortress; you can compare the view of the area painted by Jan Paweł Lelewel with its contemporary appearance. Walking along the second arm of the counterguard, you get to a small panoramic board with water colours by Jan Paweł Lelewel, painted exactly where you are standing now. You can also learn about the history of the Szczebrzeska Gate and take a closer look at it. The trail runs through ravelin II-III, by the guardhouse to the bridge leading to the Szczebrzeska Gate, the only southern gate of the fortress which could also be accessed from the west and north. You do not walk through the gate but go along the moat towards Bastion II.
