Military uniforms differed from civilian clothes mostly in cut and colour. Specialization in the particular types of weapons caused also changes in uniforms. Man stared to use camouflage attire when they started hunting. To match animals, man had to be smart, inventive and able to hide effectively. Camouflage attire was first used by the military in the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763). At that time a unit commanded by Captain Robert Rogers called “Rogers Rangers” was set up in a British colony. His soldiers were dressed in trappers’ jackets dyed green, grey or black trousers and black straps instead of traditional white ones. It marked the beginning of not only modern military camouflage uniforms but also those of rifle units. Battalions and then rifle regiments recruited mostly hunters and poachers, who were very good at using firearms.
