The Town Park designed over 90 years ago by Walerian Kronenberg is also an inspiration for creating park and fortification
image of Zamość in the 21st century. Its essence is best captured by a phrase coined by Professor Janusz Bogdanowski: “BELLONA – FOR PLANTS”. The aim which Zamość authorities and the appointed team of architects, conservation officers and landscape architects want to achieve is to create an extensive park complex of the highest quality, reflecting the great fortification idea, with some parts being accurately reconstructed and others evoking the original shape by a special layout of earthen embankments and greenery. However, the ring of fortifications and recreation areas like a green necklace on the neck of the Ideal Town will always have its “clasp”, i.e. the oldest and the most beautiful example of reconstruction and bringing back to life fortification areas – the Town Park designed by Walerian Kronenberg.
