Plan of Zamość of 1932. Town Park was indicated on the after-fortress terrains.
Setting up gardens on post-fortification sites has become a tradition. The areas where the ban on construction was lifted or those which remained after demolition of fortifications became open municipal areas. Gardens were set up inside the fortification circles, like, for example, in Wielkie Oczy, on interior sides of embankments or on areas which were levelled up after demolition of fortification works, like the Planty in Cracow or the Ring in Vienna.
