Lubelski. After the fortress was demolished in 1866, on the levelled fortress area there was a military practising field for many years and then municipal common land and in the 1950s a big gardening project designed by Prof. Gerarad Ciołek and his team started to be implemented here. It was to draw on Renaissance gardens and close forever the open views of the town from the north. However, only two parts of the project located in Piłsudskiego and Partyzantów Street have been implemented. They have been preserved as a memento of this ambitious if controversial plan.
